Fire Breaks Out at North Haugh, Cause Not Yet Known

University students and staff were informed via email on 14 January, that a fire had broken out in the University’s New Technology Building on the North Haugh. A little over an hour after the original email, Vice-Principal Communications Niall Scott followed up to announce that it was “now under control.”

Scott said that “we do not yet know the cause of the fire.”

A Fire Brigade, consisting of firefighters from St Andrews, Cupar, and Tayport are currently at the scene, having been called to the site after reports of smoke issuing from the New Technology Building. They have remained around University Buildings “damping down,” Scott’s email said.

“The fire appears to have been contained to a storage area in one corner of the building, although we expect the wider premises to be considerably affected by smoke and fire,” Scott wrote.

One witness told The Courier of “a strong smell of burning plastic.”

In the fire’s aftermath, Scott clarified that “it is safe to come and go from North Haugh buildings outwith the close cordon set by the Fire Service.”

Investigations are set to begin to establish the cause.

This news is worrying but reassuring to hear the fire was contained quickly. Clear updates from the university matter in moments like this. I hope investigations find the cause soon. Like playing basketball legends , a game that teaches focus under pressure, the response here showed coordination and calm for everyone involved today at North Haugh.

As a long-time crypto user, I’m naturally skeptical of platforms that demand excessive personal data or complicate basic tasks. I usually avoid any service that feels like a trap, but my experience with this specific tool was surprisingly smooth. The process is straightforward: you select your assets, and the system fixes the rate to protect you from sudden volatility.

When I needed a SOL to ETH swap, I appreciated that no registration or KYC was required, maintaining total anonymity. The transaction was completed quickly without any hidden limits on the amount. It is rare to find a service that balances security and transparency this effectively, making it a reliable choice for those who value their privacy and time.
