Meet the Team!
Candlemas 2026

Editor-in-Chief
Ilaria Freccia
Ilaria is a fourth-year from California, studying International Relations and Management. Outside of The Saint’s working hours, you’ll find her updating her Goodreads, drinking tea, and cooking a variety of meals — which she will proceed to photograph before eating.

Editor-in-Chief
Hannah Shiblaq
Hannah is a fourth-year English and Comparative Literature student from the Washington, D.C. area. When she isn’t working on The Saint, she's curating Letterboxd reviews and defending the em-dash. She hopes that her future endeavours will grant her the highest possible journalistic honour — ending up on a CIA watchlist.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief
Arnaz Mallik
Arnaz is a third-year English student. She has grown up across eight countries, and now lives in Tokyo. This is her third year working for The Saint, and outside of editorial duties, she likes to read.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief
Alden Arnold
Alden is a third-year English and International Relations student from Seattle, Washington. He is the self-proclaimed king of public transport and will stop at nothing — if it means a night in Dundee or Edinburgh Airport — to take that picture, write that article, or attend that journalism conference.

Head of Digital
Zainab Haji
Zainab is a final-year International Relations and Arabic student with experience working at national and local newspapers. When she's not filming a new project, she enjoys sunny beach walks, live music, and binge-watching a good TV show.

Deputy Head of Digital
Maddi Payne
Maddi is a third year English Literature and Art History student with experience working in the music and television industries. When she’s not hosting Saint on the Street, she’s usually at the cinema or petting someone’s dog on West Sands!

Business Manager
Pietro Barbini
Pietro is a fourth-year studying Art History and Management from Rome. He enjoys running around town and is always busy with something. When he is not religiously following his calendar you can spot Pietro in the kitchen cooking a meal for his flat!

News Editor
Maria Ebrahim
Maria studies International Relations and Spanish, and aspires to become a news broadcast journalist. On publication days, you’ll catch Maria up bright and early delivering the freshly printed newspapers in her Mini. When she isn’t dedicating her time to The Saint, you’ll find her in a coffee shop with an iced latte scrolling on Vinted

Events Editor
Alex Barnard
Alex is in her fourth year studying German and English, and this year’s Events Editor. In her time at The Saint, she has enjoyed covering events from STAUCA to Kink Bop to Welly Ball. Outside of journalism, she loves playing saxophone at Thursday jams, a good Rector’s flat white and travelling.

Viewpoint Editor
Sam Spendlove
Sam is a third year International Relations and Philosophy student from Quincy, Massachusetts. His hobbies include drinking whole liters of sparkling water in one sitting, buying luxuries from Tesco, and taking walks. If you can’t find him desperately trying to be someone who can read in public, you can catch him creating problems to write about.

The Relic Editor
Soren Rasmussen
Soren is a third-year English and Sustainable Development student from Connecticut. When not putting together The Relic, he's either playing with his band Five Card Draw, compulsively buying old mass market paperbacks, or rewatching The Last Waltz for the eight hundredth time. He is a staunch defender of jazz and Bob Dylan's harmonica.

Luana van Oranje
Puzzles Editor
Luana is a second year History and History of Art Student from the Netherlands. With a love for all things NYT Games and other puzzles, the puzzle section has been her baby this year! When not obsessing over small InDesign details, you can also find her reeling, debating, and most probably in the pub.

Sport Editor
Ben Bagley
Ben is a fourth-year German and Modern History student from the Essex/London borderlands. When he isn’t following the fortunes of the mighty Colchester United, he may be found at a grimy Glaswegian music venue, or wandering the streets of Berlin with a bottle of crisp European lager in hand.

Features Editor
Mrunmayi Kamerkar
Mrunmayi is a third-year History and International Relations student from Bangalore, India. Having moved to St Andrews from a landlocked city, she spends a great deal of time obsessing over her current proximity to the sea. You can find her walking or running the Fife coastal path — she claims kilometre six is where the best Features ideas materialise.

Science & Technology Editor
Matteo Veratelli
Matteo is a third-year Physics and Math student from Ferrara, Italy. 90% of the time he’ll be immersed in books, languages or football (where he’s a staunch supporter of an unknown team that never wins, Spal). Otherwise, you can be sure he’s researching new scientific stories to bring up in conversation.

Head of Illustration
Isabelle Holloway
Isabelle is a Slovak-American fourth-year studying English literature, with a tendency to over-romanticize the past and find anything to be ‘aesthetic’. She enjoys listening to ‘divorced-dad’ music and Theo Von’s podcast while working on creative hobbies, and often wonders whether Fyodor Dostoevsky or Hunter S. Thompson holds greater literary wisdom for life.

Senior Copy Editor
Finn Lister
Finn is a fourth-year English and Philosophy student from Toronto who is in her third year working with The Saint. When she is not combing through articles, she can be found going for a long beach walk (preferably with a friend or dog), attending a yoga class, or browsing Toppings to add to her ever-growing TBR list.
Photo Editor
Manraj Gill
Manraj is a second-year biochemistry student from Yangon, Myanmar. Having lived through the 2021 Burmese coup d’etat and the ensuing turmoil, he brings to his work a profound belief in photography as a medium for reportage – one that captures the humanity so often lost behind the headlines. His lens is accordingly drawn to the fault lines of war, resistance, and the raw essence of the human condition. When not chasing stories in faraway lands, you can find him on some other side quest – such as freediving in the frigid Scottish seas or scrambling up the nearest Munro.
