Editor-in-Chief

Alden Arnold

Alden is a fourth-year English and International Relations student from Seattle, Washington. He was ceremonially dubbed "The Saint's Golden Boy" two years ago, and he still chases this high. If you catch him without a newspaper in hand, it is likely occupied by a Young Scot Card, stainless steel pan, or book.

Editor-in-Chief

Arnaz Mallick

Arnaz is a fourth-year English student. She has grown up across eight countries, and now lives in Tokyo. This is her fourth year working for The Saint, and outside of editorial duties, she likes to read.

Picture 2.jpg

Deputy Editor-in-Chief

Maria Ebrahim

Maria is in her final year studying International Relations and Spanish and hopes to one day become a broadcast journalist for a global news corporation. When she’s not writing, working, or talking about The Saint — which is rare — she’s usually shopping on Vinted with an iced latte in hand, practising Farsi, or watching the latest news while spending far too long blow-drying her hair every morning.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief

Sam Spendlove

Sam Spendlove is a fourth-year student of International Relations and Philosophy from Quincy, Massachusetts. He likes long walks, coffees, and attempting to write serviceable personal essays. He started on The Saint as a writer for Viewpoint, and served as section editor prior to his current position.

Head of Digital

Maddison Payne

Maddi is a final-year English Literature and Art History student with experience working in the music, television and film industries across Marketing and PR. When she’s not hosting Saint on the Street, she’s usually brainstorming new ideas for socials or petting someone’s dog on West Sands!

Picture 3.jpg

Head of Design

Luana van Oranje

Luana is a third-year Modern History and Art History student from the Netherlands. The self-proclaimed #1 fan of InDesign, she is excited to lead the newly-created Design team! When not obsessing over layout details, you can find her reeling, debating, or trying to convince someone to play card games.

Business Manager

Jonah McConnell

Jonah is a fourth-year computer science student from Northern Ireland. When he’s not wasting his time procrastinating in the library, he enjoys reading and mutual psychoanalysis of his closest friends. He was also robbed of first place in Race2 this year, and vows to have his revenge.

Picture 4.jpg

News Editor

Petra Pender

Petra is in her final year, studying International Relations and Modern History. When not writing for the Saint, Petra can be found keeping up with national and international politics, debating, or at brunch. If not immediately evident, she can typically be spotted rapidly due her penchant for leopard print.

Picture 10.jpg

Events Editor

Joss Wildgoose Bulloch Harmsworth-Meade

Joss is a third-year Economics and Modern History student. He has grown up across four countries, and now lives in Brixton, London. An Aikman’s bartender and a shinty player, he brings a lot of diversity to The Saint.

Picture 5.jpg

Viewpoint Editor

Poppiena Horsington

Poppiena is a third-year English Literature and Comparative Literature student with ties and bows to numerous nations. A lover of all things opinions based, she is frequently found explaining her latest outrage with expressive and impressive flow. When she is not chatting away she loves to delve into a novel or a two, frequent one of st andrews many cafes or meekly reside in the library once realising that too many cafe visits is indeed a thing.

The Relic Editor

Soren Rasmussen

Soren is a fourth-year English and Sustainable Development student from Connecticut. When not putting together The Relic, he's either playing with his band Five Card Draw, compulsively buying old mass market paperbacks, or rewatching The Last Waltz for the eight hundredth time. He is a staunch defender of jazz and Bob Dylan's harmonica.

Picture 7.jpg

Puzzles Editor

Julia Emery

Julia is a third-year Philosophy and International Relations student from Texas. You'll probably find her creating her own crosswords in the library or playing the NYT games during lectures. Outside of her words in the grid, you can tune in to her analyzing the words in songs on STAR radio or going for a long walk and talk with a glass of Sauvignon blanc!

Picture 11.jpg

Sport Editor

Freddie Coughlin

Freddie Coughlin is a fourth-year International Relations Student. Aside from his Editor role, he presents The Saint’s Bursting the Bubble series. He also hosts a weekly radio show called Reasons to be Cheerful pt.3, occasionaly pretends to be other people (in plays), and puts in consistently mediocre performances at centre-half for Sheffield Tuesday in the Sunday League.

Picture 6.jpg

Features Editor

Gracie Jones

Gracie is a third-year International Relations student from California. When not working on The Saint, she can be found spending absurd amounts of money on antique books, dancing around her room to Fleetwood Mac, and buying chocolate buttons in large quantities. A longtime connoisseur of spiral staircases, she has also recently become addicted to climbing Munros.

Matteo — SCITECH.jpg

Science & Technology Editor

Matteo Veratelli

Matteo is a fourth-year Physics and Math student from Ferrara, Italy. 90% of the time he’ll be immersed in books, languages or football (where he’s a staunch supporter of an unknown team that never wins, Spal).  Otherwise, you can be sure he’s researching new scientific stories to bring up in conversation.

Picture 13.jpg

Head of Illustration

Sandra Palazuelos Garcia

Sandra is in her fourth year studying Social Anthropology. If not scouting for 4x£1 movie DVD deals at charity shops, she can be found sampling any tiramisu that crosses her way, inopportunely halting whatever conversation she's having at 11.58pm to keep her Duolingo streak or searching for a belonging she lost eight years ago. Only to probably lose it again.

Picture 12.jpg

Senior Copy Editor

Marin Horwitz

Marin is from Philadelphia and is in her third year of studying biochemistry. She spends most of her time reading, walking, or contemplating what she’ll have for dinner while in lab. Although she feels ambivalent towards the em-dash, she loves the Oxford comma and semicolons.

Picture 8.jpg

Photo Editor

Smilla Spasic

I am a (incoming) third-year English Literature student and Photos Editor. Having moved from Sweden to Boston, I love traveling and reflecting a piece of these cultures either through the lens or through writing. When I am not busy traveling I love to play football.
