Rector Stella Maris Removed from University Court

The University of St Andrews’ University Court has, for the second time, removed Rector Stella Maris from her position as President of University Court, effective immediately on Friday 9 January.

While Maris no longer sits on University Court, she will still remain in her role as Rector of the University.

This is the second time Maris has been removed as President of Court, having previously been dismissed earlier in her term before successfully appealing the decision and being reinstated.

In a University-wide email sent this evening, Ray Perman Esquaire, Senior Lay Member and Chair of the University Court, confirmed the decision, stating: “Ms Maris was removed from Court for repeatedly rejecting her obligations of collective responsibility and refusing to observe Court’s standard operating procedures and its basic rules of governance.”

“The rules she wished to ignore are not arcane or technical niceties: they are the most basic foundations of good governance,” the email continued.

“Adherence to governance is an absolute requirement of the University’s ability to receive funding from the Scottish Government.”

The email went on to affirm to staff and students that student representation would not be affected by the dismissal: “I can assure you that the Rector’s removal from Court will in no way diminish the representation of student interests at the highest levels of University governance.”

The Saint has contacted the University, the Students’ Association, and Stella Maris for comment.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

I recently explored truck parking solutions in Chicago and came across a platform that genuinely simplifies the process. From my experience, the service makes finding and reserving parking spots surprisingly smooth, even offering options for advance booking. Security and on-site amenities like rest areas, dining, and basic vehicle services add real convenience for drivers on long routes. What stood out most was the flexibility in pricing and support, ensuring a stress-free experience. If you’re navigating the city with a large vehicle, check out https://truxspot.com/truck-parking/illinois/chicago for an easy start.

Reading about tadalafil for working out helped me better understand why some people incorporate it into their routines. The article explains the mechanisms behind its effect on blood flow, which logically connects to how muscles are supplied with oxygen and nutrients during exercise. I also appreciated the mention of responsible dosing and realistic expectations. It doesn’t promise dramatic results but instead frames it as one potential tool among many. Very informative and grounded.

I saw your post about the university rector being removed, and it helped me understand how serious governance and rules are in school leadership. When I faced a tough week of assignments and tests, I had to use Online Finance Class support so I could focus on learning and keep my grades steady. Reading this made me think about how important clear goals and fair rules are for any group, even in class or at a university.
