Your weekly Sunday League round-up

As the clocks go forward, we are ticking ever closer to the thrilling climax of the Sunday League.
Botswana Meat Commission extended their cushion at the top to six points with a win over Spartans. Whisper it quietly, but an invincible season is certainly on the cards.
The race for second place took an unlikely turn when Sheffield Tuesday got the better of a nine goal thriller with Strokers. Tuesday will play DLL in the final round of fixtures to decide who meets BMC in the final.
Strokers captain, Chris Black, was left dismayed after the game went ahead without a referee.
“It’s scandalous,” Black vented in the captain’s WhatsApp group. “A no-ref fixture should be voided.”
Much has been made of the officiating this season but the lack of a referee for such an important game will no doubt intensify scrutiny on the Sports Centre and heighten the calls for VAR in the Sunday League.
At the bottom end of the table, Butts Wynderers kept their slim survival hopes alive with a 7-2 demolition of Beavers. The Wynderers’ first win of the academic year may have come too late, while Real Sosobad’s defeat sealed their return to Division Two next season.
In other business, The Saint is delighted to announce the inaugural Ballon Dimanche Sunday League Player of the Season Award.
Submit nominations for player of the season to bb213@st-andrews.ac.uk by the close of play Sunday 18 April. The winner, chosen by the sportswriters, will win a prize courtesy of The Saint.
