Sunday I'm in Love
Your Weekly Sunday League Round-up

After a long winter break, the Sunday League kicked off again last weekend in a high-scoring afternoon of action.
Spartans, chasing their third title in as many years, romped home in a 10-2 demolition of newly promoted Real Sosobad. It was a rude awakening for Sosobad, who will need to adapt quickly to the pace of the top division if they are to stand any chance of survival.
The title defenders weren’t the only team to register double digits, with Botswana Meat Commission also racking up 11 goals against Sheffield Tuesday. BMC were unlucky to miss out on a spot in the final last season and will no doubt have their eyes on the prize this season.
Beavers and Strokers also picked up wins on the opening weekend. Strokers are no doubt still reeling from their defeat in last season and will be looking to go one better this season.
“Losing 6-1 in the final last season was heartbreak,” Strokers captain Chris Black told The Saint. “We just didn’t have the quality to cope with their star players.”
Butts Wynderers, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, are looking to capitalise in the transfer window after the folding of Paqueta Crisps over the break.
“There are a lot of talented players on the market,” said Butts Wynderers captain Oumar Sagna. “We’ve been aiming to take advantage of that as much as possible with our recruitment.”
This season promises to be another cracker. Keep up to date with the Sunday League in our print edition and online.
