Local Business Munch Opens New Salad and Soup Bar
St Andrews local eatery Munch has officially debuted a new soup and salad bar, Crunch, on South Street.
Owners Verity and Andy Martin — both originally from St Andrews and live locally with their three children — celebrated the opening on 2 September, 2026. Crunch will be the sister shop of the town's staple sandwich spot located next to Munch.
The Martins told The Saint: “[it is] a build-your-own salad [...] place,” adding that customers can “pick your base, protein/main, toppings, dressings, and garnish.”
The owners added that Crunch will cater to all different dietary requirements with meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options.
Munch and Crunch are not the first business venture for the family. Verity Martin told The Saint that her parents had owned one of the original coffee shops in St Andrews, The Merchants House, which was open between 1987 and 1999 on 49 South Street.
According to the couple, their decision to open a soup and salad bar was inspired by the growing trend that “people are so much more health conscious these days, especially young people, so we saw a gap in the market.”
The owners added that they “didn’t want to take anything away from Munch” and that Crunch “is almost the polar opposite.”
The Martins emphasised the importance of supporting local businesses: “It's disappointing the number of chains appearing in [this] town.”
The couple added: “We’ve also purposely decided not to sell coffee. We want to be amazing at what we do.”

Spent a couple hours on Pokiig last week going through the puzzle section. A few of the games were more engaging than I expected — kept telling myself one more level and then lost track of time.
I keep a tab open with Crazyig for when I need a break during work. They have a decent collection of browser games that run smoothly without any lag. The racing and shooting categories are where I usually end up spending most of my time.
Cuando una aplicación tiene varias funciones, una explicación breve puede resultar bastante útil. La información sobre Magistv ayuda a quienes quieren conocer mejor sus características antes de utilizarla.
Great to see a local family business like Munch expanding with Crunch. For small businesses looking to grow and manage their operations efficiently, I recommend KDI Office Technology to help streamline document and IT systems. A solid foundation like that can support expansion without losing focus on quality and customer service.
